Twitter Advertising : How to Cash in On the Newest Trends in PPC Marketing

Of course you’ve heard about Adsense and Adwords, and similar services from Yahoo and Microsoft. And you can make a truckload of money if you use them correctly. Yet this process is not that simple anymore, it requires a lot of special PPC knowledge.

But the great thing about Internet is that technology for traffic generation and monetization moves so fast, that fresh traffic opportunities appear every day. And if you were lucky enough to be among the first to explore them, you probably enjoyed a great flood of traffic for pennies.

When the rest of the world starts using those traffic techniques, they are not new anymore, and they are certainly less profitable. So what do you do? You got it. You just find the new ones, and repeat this process again and again.

How can you find them, you might ask? Well, one thing you can do is subscribe to this RSS feed (just click the link on the top of the page), and follow my updates. For those who prefer to receive info through emails, I’ll put a signup box to my newsletter soon. This way you’ll always know about the newest and hottest traffic trends.

Ok, let’s move on. One of the mint fresh traffic tactics today is to get your site advertised on Twitter.

Have you heard about Twittertising (short for Twitter Advertising)? It’s a buzz word for 2009. You can have your traffic targeted both demographically and geographically, and since this advertising space is not crowded yet, you can get very good results rather inexpensively.

So today I’ll briefly cover 2 twitter apps which serve as alternatives to both Adsense and Adwords. And by this I mean that those programs will give you a chance to earn some extra cash as twitter publishers (you should have twitter account already opened of course), and as twitter advertisers.

I’ll start with twitter background ads, since this concept is a little different from the image ads from other PPC networks. The image ads in other networks are actually clickable, while the ads you can place on the background of your twitter page won’t be clickable. This limitation occurs because twitter doesn’t allow to upload html of any kind in your account for security purpose.

The fact that your ad is not clickable is a negative factor for your conversion rate, but it’s over-compensated by the fact that you’re advertising to a very targeted audience, plus this audience sees the ad on the page of the person it follows. People warmed up to the host of the account where you’re advertising, they have established a relationship with the host. So your site or product is getting an implied endorsement from the third party they trust. (If the host displays the ad, then s/he’s at least OK with it). All those positive subtleties, when accumulated, often result in high conversions.

Another twitter app I’ll cover today is much like other ppc programs out there that pay per click and per action. You can earn both as twitter publisher by twitting ads from advertisiers, and as advertiser by taking advantage of the high conversions. I explained the reasons for high conversions a few paragraphs earlier, they are the same for both twitter background image ads and text ads.

In both twitter advertising apps you can also be paid based on the number of followers (obviously, the more followers you have the better).

One feature for twitter text ad program that is worth mentioning: they now allow you to make money with each and every of your tweet by offering shorten urls that open the offer of your choice in an iframe. Both the visitor sees both the page of your choice and some ad from iframe. When he clicks on an ad, you get paid.

Pretty good dealif you ask me. So go on and try this Text Twitter Advertisement service too.
